We set the clocks ahead last night. That doesn’t mean we lose an hour’s sleep. It doesn’t mean we lose an hour at all. It does mean that the next thing you have scheduled will start an hour sooner. It’s no different than if they moved the time up an hour. So I didn’t lose an hour’s sleep, but as I have something scheduled for today I have an hour less for blogging. That would not have been an issue if the imp of the perverse didn’t play games with me last night. My plan was to go to sleep an hour earlier so I could get up early enough to listen to A Thousand Welcomes on WFUV. The imp laughed at that plan and for no good reason whatsoever I stayed up till after 2 AM which became 3 AM, so there went my morning.
Good thing I didn’t do much yesterday. I’m such a party animal that I made Saturday, laundry day. I grew up in a private house and though I’ve used public laundry’s for years I have never quite learned the ethics. I wait a long time between laundries and then do a lot at once. I end up with two loads of dark clothes plus my whites. My building has only three machines but even then they aren’t used much. Most times I go down there none are in use. I went down yesterday and all the machines were open so I started to load. While I was in the process, for the first time ever, some one came in to do her laundry. She seemed to expect me to leave her a machine. Even if she didn’t I wasn’t sure what I’d do. I want to use just one dryer so I want all my laundry done at once and don’t want to have to spend an extra wash of time to do it. I decided to be nice, and forego doing a white load and took them out of the machine and put them in with everything else. She glared and didn’t thank me, but that’s not the point. My question is, by common understanding should I have emptied the machine for her? I do less laundry than most people but I do use all the machines at once. Is that wrong?
As I was home all day so I made the dinner I have been planning for a while, country style spare ribs. It takes over an hour and half to make so I don’t make them often. There was a great sale at Stop & Shop so I bought them. When I opened the package up yesterday I was surprised to find that that instead of being cut into typical rib size pieces, it was in five huge ones that I had to cut myself into four pieces each. I froze the other four. I usually get them at Aldi, it’s cheaper when things aren’t on sale. I discovered it is also not as good. These were amazing. It was so tender, I could have eaten them without teeth. I ran out of the Cajun seasoning my recipe called for so I improvised a rub with what I had. I knew it wouldn’t hurt. An hour and a half later I had a special meal. Because of the sale the meat cost less than a dollar.
I finally got some photo and video editing done. Not enough but I got quite a bit in shape to start editing, I created folders and put them in them. One that I took of Deni Bonet is ready to be shown. This is what I told you about yesterday, the dancers that couldn’t resist Deni’s finale.
Tonight’s plan is to see Sam Baker at Kathryn’s Place. Unfortunately that’s the same time that John Platt returns to WFUV. You can listen to the return of Sunday Supper at 5 PM on the air or online. If like me you can’t make it, you can listen on the archives for the next two weeks any time after the show ends. That’s what I’ll do.
