Game of Thrones sleep

The Game of the Game of Thrones

The biggest challenge since getting out of the hospital is staying awake. I just realized that I didn’t use a nasal strip last night, that doesn’t help at all. Sleep is precious.

Yesterday was an official day off from pushing myself. I had one outing, I went to the drug store to pick up a prescription. While I was there I also bought more acetaminophen. I’m not taking it much but it helps when I go to bed. I stopped at the supermarket for a few things too.

All that was on the other side of Mosholu Parkway which was closed. We had a neighborhood street fair complete with a stage and bands. I just checked out the food. The line was too long for deep-fried Oreos so I just got a thick shake float from the ice cream truck. It was excellent. I didn’t check how far I walked but it wasn’t too far. I’m sure less than a mile. Yet when I got home what did I do? I quickly fell asleep. As I said, staying awake is a challenge.

I watched the first half of the Bucks-Raptors game. I couldn’t watch the second half as that would have meant putting off watching the Game of Thrones finale. Rarely has such a great show had such a disappointing end. The big dramatic event, Jon assassination of Dany happened early. Inexplicably this did not result in the Unsullied and Dothraki going on a rampage. They didn’t even kill Jon. They had spent the last few days killing anyone that sided with Cersei, no matter how minor. Yet they showed restraint with the killer of their Khaleesi? The entire episode lacked passion.

The most important part is that I won the Game of the Game of Thrones. Forty minutes before it aired this is what I posted on Facebook.

With 40 minutes to go here is my official Game of Thrones prediction. Westeros becomes a parliamentary democracy. Bran becomes the head of state as the three-eyed-raven while despite a series of terrible decisions Tyrion becomes the Prime Minister.

I nailed it.

I very much want to write about abortion, the problem is that I don’t have the energy to do the research needed. I said something that I’ve read that fits what I’ve been reading for years, that the gender-gap on abortion is not large. Though women are the most affected they are not significantly more pro-choice than man, especially in Alabama. I need to have the numbers to back that up before I write about it. Everyone, not just me, should source their data. I can’t proceed until I do that. There is nothing I feel more strongly about than that your opinions should be determined by the facts, and that “the facts” should not be determined by your opinions.

This is what I have the energy to write today. Tonight I’m going to my first Met game since the surgery. Though I’ll be sitting the entire time that involves a lot of traveling. I won’t be afraid of leaving early if my body tells me to do so. Tomorrow I see the surgeon. We’ll see if he is happy with my progress. I have a little lump where my big hernia lump used to be. I must ask him about that.
