Dog Bites Man

Here’s the headline right up there with dog bites man. I’m an idiot. Yesterday I had a 10:45 appointment with my ophthalmologist. It’s only 10 minutes away so easy to time. I was proud of myself as I signed in at exactly 10:45. There’s always a wait after you sign as they retrieve your records. Then they called my name and told me that my appointment was for 9:45 and I had missed it. There was no room to fit me in. I must have misentered it in my calendar. You know why? I’m an idiot. Fortunately I was about to make an appointment for Thursday morning at 9:45. I will not miss this one. It did start my day earlier than usual. I went to Aldi afterward and was home by 12:30. That’s earlier than I usually first leave the house. I am addicted to Aldi chocolate chip sliced brioche. You put peanut butter on that and it’s a little bit of heaven. I got hungry just thinking about it.

Last night I went to the Met game. They were playing the Giants. I brought food with me, guess what it was. That’s right, peanut butter on chocolate brioche. I miss getting a hot dog at the game but they are so darn expensive. It was a good game until the end. The Mets fell behind 2-0 on a string of seeing-eye hits. Then they took a 3-2 lead via home runs by Alonso and Ramos. The Jints tied it up and the game went into extra innings. Then the Mets bullpen exploded and they lost 9-3. They managed to play an extra-inning blowout. It isn’t easy being a Met fan. It builds character.

I had fun though and I always enjoy my time hanging out with Alan. I’m going to two more game with him this month. I love that I’m back to regularly going to baseball games. It is part of my self-image. It’s what I do.

Is this good news or bad news? the surgery is no longer my biggest source of pain, the arthritis in my back has taken over. I finally bought a cold pack. I used it for the first time this morning. It made my back feel much better. I’m not in pain now. Over the counter analgesics, heat, and cold, are surprisingly effective. So is time, it doesn’t heal all wounds but it helps with most. That’s why when people said, “I used [insert quackery here] and felt better I ignore it. So often I do nothing and feel better. So do you.

I have a busy week ahead. I might not end up doing everything but here’s the tentative lineup starting with tonight.

I’m not worried about my health or even my energy. The only thing that might make me miss things is money. I’m working at doing merch for the two that I’d otherwise have to pay for.

Now for some breakfast, taylorhameggandcheese on an English muffin sounds good.
