I’m off to the New Bedford Folk Festival today. Too bad my digestive system is unhappy. It’s an obstruction from the scar tissue in my small intestine. This time I didn’t eat anything stupid. I’m just paying for a lifetime of Crohn’s disease. All the years I had no insurance and as off meds did not help.
I’m not going to let it stop me from going. The odds are excellent that I’ll be feeling fine by tomorrow. I’ll probably feel fine by later today. I have four hours until Mike picks me up. I have to pack, but that won’t take long, I’ll only be gone three nights. I should change the cat litter and top off their food and water. I was looking forward to dinner tonight, Mike and I always stop someplace interesting on the way up. I scouted a Portuguese restaurant in Fall River. I hope I can eat. If not I’ll relax while Mike does and then lay down as soon as we get to Gary’s house. That’s where we are staying.
Here’s a link to the Lineup. You’ll see a lot of musicians that are part of my world, people that have played the Budgiedome and even my house. That’s not what gets me excited, it’s the people I don’t know. It’s the best festival for discovering new music. No matter how often I see the Kennedys I make sure to see them at New Bedford. They are the ones that told me about it. I watch them with my Buddha-Pest family, the Van Mercs. This has been an odd year; I haven’t seen Pete and Maura in a long time. I must correct that.
I stay with Gary and a house full of geeks. That’s always a big part of the fun.
Huzzah, my innards just started moving. I might even eat before I go. That would be great.
There were a lot of fireworks around here last night, more so than in any neighborhood I’ve lived in. Some of the skyrockets launched from the park around Mosholu parkway were the most impressive I’ve seen not in a professional display. I was much less enamored with the people on my block setting off firecrackers and setting fires at 1 AM. The fire department had to come because someone left a burning box in the middle of the street in front of my house.
I better see if I can get ready in the three hours before Mike comes to pick me up. I’ll start with packing. I’m considering bringing my computer and perhaps blogging on the road. I’m going to have lots of extra room in my suitcase. My guess is that even if I bring it I won’t write. In that case you’ll next hear from me on Monday.
