Bienvenue à mes doux Lecteurs. I’m listening to Le Vent du Nord as I write and Google Translate doesn’t have Quebecois. I might have to turn this off or the entire blog will want to be in French. Le Vent du Nord is stupid good. Let’s see if I can get this written even with the music on. I might have to take a break to dance.
I’m back from dancing and ready to write. Yesterday was a rare two round trips on the MetroNorth day. First I went to see my psychiatrist in Harrison. She’s leaving which is very sad as I like her quite a bit. We discussed me trying CBD or medical marijuana. That’s because I asked. She’s an agnostic. As I’m not seeing her again she’s not going to start me on anything new but she put it in my notes for my new doctor. I’ll discuss it with her my first visit. She’s also thinking of putting me on stimulants for ADD. That’s the first time any professional has mentioned that in my diagnosis. She thinks it might help with my procrastination. It might also give me a panic attack. She said the good thing is that I’d know right away. I never thought of myself as ADD but I respect the opinion of professionals and it’s always hard to evaluate yourself from the inside. I know myself but I have to have blind spots. Everyone else does and I am pretty sure I’m not the one freak that doesn’t. I’m the freak that’s really cute.
My second trip was up to the wilds of Hastings-on-Hudson to see The End of America at the River Spirit Waterfront Concert Series in MacEachron Waterfront Park. As you might guess, it’s right on the shore of the mighty Hudson. Peter who runs the series, asked me to do the merch. He said to get there half an hour early. Yesterday I look at my calendar and saw it started at 6:30 so I raced out of the house to get there by 6:00. I didn’t even have time to make the peanut butter sandwich I planned on bringing. The park is right next to the train station. As I got close I heard the band singing. I was afraid I was late and it started at 6:00. I wasn’t, it was just sound check. In fact I was early. The concert was at 7:00 and I had put 6:30 in my calendar as I needed to be there half an hour early. So now I was an hour early. That wasn’t so bad. I was able to set the merch up and then have time to socialize when the crowd stared arriving. I saw Perry and Beth who I see all the time and Dick who I haven’t seen in years. I met new people, I have forgotten their names and that’s a shame as I talked to one of them for quite a long time. She was at the New Bedford Folk Festival. I couldn’t talk her into going to Falcon Ridge. The rain heat, and cold at night keep her away. She’s not a camper.
I love merching for my people at venues where most people don’t know them. I receive all the compliments meant for them. People kept on coming up to me just to say how much they enjoyed the show and wanting to know more about the band.
Before the sun got close to the horizon it was beastly hot and humid. Once it set I was swarmed by mosquitos. This is new, I was bitten repeatedly but nothing itched afterward. I only felt it right after the bite. Next time I go I bring DEET.
The show started and ended a bit late so I missed the 9:16 train and had to wait an hour for the next. I did more socializing, with the band, and with the young men who volunteered and put up and broke down the booths. I was in the merch booth but there was also one for kids, one for the festival, and one for the community. One of them was a big WFUV fan who wants to volunteer. I hope to see him at the next drive.
I got home around 11:20. I still hadn’t eaten so I finally had my peanut butter on chocolate chip brioche sandwich. It was a strange food day as I ate breakfast when other people do, 8:00 not at noon like I usually do. And then didn’t have another meal until late at night. All I had in between was a chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich. I had that to cool down after the trip to the psychiatrist
Now it’s 12:15 so I better wrap this up and eat. It’s a bit late even for me. It’s a bacon and eggs day.
