Yesterday had all the same elements as Saturday minus the idiot story, there was great music, great friends, and great food. There were also transit problems, but not for me. The music was by Bobtown, the friends were the members of Bobtown, Carolann, Allison, Bev, Fred, Shelley, David, Perry & Beth, repeats from Saturday, and Jamie. Sorry people I’m forgetting. I’m doubly sorry if you were sitting with me and somehow, I’m not seeing you in my mental visualization. Wait, I just gave a mental peak across the room and saw Dot and Glenn. Is this how anyone else’s memory works? Is it how everyone’s memory works?
I had the opposite of travel woes and arrived at Rockwood before two members of the band, Alan and Dan. Dan was one of the people with substantial transit issues. Despite the rushed sound check and Katherine having a cold, it was a great show. My Gentle Readers should all know how much I love Bobtown. I feel less self-conscious when I say I’m with the band about them than most. I’m always self-conscious, but sometimes I have to say it to get into the venue before doors open and I am merching. I try to get in by just acting like I belong.
Bobtown performed the songs from their new album, Chasing the Sun. David, Carolann, Glenn, and myself got shout-outs for acting in the video for my favorite song on the album, In My Bones. It is quintessential Bobtown, a jaunty tune about death with incredible harmonies and arrangements. Some songs fit my brain right off the rack.
The night before I left my groceries, Taylor ham and eggs at Ethical Brew. Perry and Beth run that, and they kindly rescued them from the refrigerator and brought them last night. They deserve extra credit for not eating any it, because as they said, “You know about trusting Jews with ham.” They are my kind of Jews.
I twice missed going out to eat after shows in the past week but last night I didn’t. Carolann, Allison, Bev, Fred, and Shelley, went to the Remedy Diner. I have such a mental block on the name. I was trying to get it out when I was talking to Allison, and said, “It’s something religious, the thing where Christians go to heaven before the apocalypse. Finally, the term came to me, The Rapture! I knew immediately that was wrong. It starts with an R, that’s about all it has in common with Remedy. My mind works in mysterious ways. Unfortunately, Katherine couldn’t join us as she had to get all her equipment together. She’s the drummer, that means lots of equipment. So that’s three times in eight days that I missed dinner with her. It’s a curse.
I’ve been listening to Chasing the Sun while I write this. The last song, No Man’s Land just started. I’ve listened to the album so many times, and heard all the songs last night, and I don’t get tired of it. I don’t know why it took so long but last night it finally struck me that No Man’s Land would be a great name for a lesbian bar. I’m a marketing genius; Why aren’t I rich?
The Remedy is a great place for post-concert dining as they have a huge variety of food, the food is great, and the portions enormous. Fred’s Southwest Salad was about the same size as the Southwest.
This was another home game, comfort music, comfort people, and comfort food. I even had easy commutes. Today’s plans are just shopping and eating at home. If my package gets delivered early, I’ll also go to my Post Office box. Of course, that means it will come at 8 PM.
