More Exciting Than Her Ride Through Coventry

I’m back to having sleep issues, slept late yesterday and now today. I hate this. I need to see the pulmonologist about my sleep apnea. I fall asleep fine; I just don’t wake up resting. On the bright side it means I dream multiple times a night and get surprise guest stars in them. The night before last, it was Jessica, with whom I haven’t spent quality time in years. I suspect it was because I saw Richard Thompson and we originally bonded over him and Jessica and I saw him together multiple times. Dreams are connection machines.

Yesterday I went to the Knicks game. Alan usually gives me tickets to games against the bad teams as he can sell the tickets to the better games. Last night they were playing a good team, the Philadelphia 76ers, though they were without their best player, Joel Embiid. I always pronounced his last syllable as bid, but I suspected I was wrong. I asked Alan and it’s pronounced bead. Will I remember that? I don’t know. I constantly forget the name of Kristen Bell’s character on The Good Place, and I love that show and her character. Last night on the subway I just kept repeating “Eleanor Shellstrop” over and over again, so I’d remember. Then when writing this I lost Kristen’s last name. I can’t win. It’s not easy being an idiot. I’m a pro so I make it look easy.

I gave myself a treat before the game. I remembered there was a place that served a great dessert towards the 7th ave end of the LIRR concourse at Penn Station. I am rarely at that end and didn’t remember what it was. I decided to check it out. It’s a Godiva ice cream shop. Get the soft dark chocolate ice cream in a dark chocolate cone. It’s amazing. I’m not a huge fan of Godiva in general but this is heavenly. Best soft ice cream I’ve had.

It was the best game I’ve been to this season. When the Knicks fell behind by 10 in the second quarter I predicted they would never lead again. This prediction looked rough at times. They tied the game several times and shot for the lead about 10 times and missed every time. Then with 30.9 seconds left in the game they took the lead! They blew it of course, the Knicks are terrible, but it was an exciting game. They ended up losing by 3. I lost my prediction game with Alan as I had them losing by 5 and Alan nailed the differential.

For once I remembered to use my MTA App before the last minute and saw that I had perfect timing for the A train. I have to decided between that and the C, they have separate entrances. It was timed so well that I didn’t even have time to walk to the front of the platform where I need to be when I get off after switching to the D train. The A and I arrived at the platform at the same time.

I have nothing on my agenda today. I might go to the Irish Session at An Beale Bocht or I might just go food shopping. I’ve been on the run of late so will probably opt for the latter. Then I can be good and record an episode of Gord’s Gold. I also have a backlog of music to listen to. OK. That’s it, today is about music. I just have to be able to stay awake. I just had two cups of coffee and I’m nodding off.
