I’m an idiot. I made two commitments for tonight. I thought one was for tomorrow. Now I have to miss one thing I very much want to see and have no plans for tomorrow night. There is third show I want to see tonight but it never made it as far as my calendar as I already knew I had plans. The three shows are Cynthia Kaplan at Stand-Up New York, Jill Sobule at Joe’s Pub, and Andrea Asprelli at Rockwood. I have never seen Cynthia do a full set, so she wins. I thought Jill’s show was tomorrow. I hate missing Andrea too. You should go to one of these shows. They are very different.
This is the third time this month I’ve entered a date wrong on my calendar. I suspect it’s because I had my PC calendar set to start the week on Monday. I did that so the weekend would appear on the same page. To make it worse my phone calendar starts on Sunday. I just changed the PC to a Sunday Start. I can’t help being an idiot, but I can take precautions knowing that I am one. This is good preparation for organizing things for multiple people, I can picture the mistakes other people might make.
I am not enamored with every candidate for the Democratic presidential nominations. There are a few I have strong issues with. That doesn’t mean that I will publicly criticize them. They are all far better than Trump. They are all far better than any Republican that might run next election. Hell, they are far better than any Republican politician. That’s what matters. I do not want to plant the seeds of doubt about any of them. Whoever runs will get 100% of my support. Carter and Clinton were near the bottom of my choices for the nomination in 76 and 92 but I’m very happy they were elected, and both were far better presidents than any Republican. Even Obama was my second choice in 2008. That didn’t stop me from campaigning for him. There’s a line I heard in a FiveThirtyEight podcast. One of the reporter’s fathers said it; “Serve your goals not your rage.” That’s great advice and too many people don’t heed it.
That’s all for today. I’m going to keep it short. I have something else to write about, but I’ve done it before, and I need to come up with a new approach. I won’t write just for the sake of writing.
