Baseball Doctors Health poutine

Health Report

Did you wonder why I wasn’t writing? I’ve been sick. I’m still sick. It’s what I always call my Crohn’s but should call an intestinal obstruction. My intestines have multiple constrictions from 50 years of Crohn’s disease plus hernias and surgical scars. I woke obstructed yesterday and have not eaten since Sunday night. I drink a little bit at a time. I have spent most of my time sleeping and watching TV. I don’t watch shows that are important to me, I mainly watch shows I’ve already seen so that if I sleep through some episodes, or parts of episodes I’m fine. This episode I’ve been watching Gotham. I switched over to baseball and will stick with that. There are four games today, eight tomorrow. I’m feeling a bit better and haven’t slept for a few hours.

I was supposed to have an MRI today, to see how bad my intestines look as I’ve been having these obstructions. I had to cancel. I rescheduled. I called my new gastroenterologist. This is not a good time for me to have to switch to someone who doesn’t know me. We bonded. I told  him that the one food that causes attacks is poutine. Not only did he know what it is, he loves it! We talked about where to get it. He’s my people. Even better he wrote me a prescription for a steroid, not prednisone. It’s one that primarily works in the digestive system and is converted into something inert by the liver. If It’s ready tonight I’ll walk over and pick it up. I’m not looking forward to the walk, but I’m looking forward to the relief.
