Good Things

I’m sorry My Gentle Readers, blogging fled my brain this morning. Good thing I stumbled across it near the peanut butter and chocolate wafers. So now it wants to let you know that I didn’t eat the entire box, I left one package. I think that’s about 700,000 Calories. I’ve been nosh deprived and dived right into the deep water. This is why I don’t take drugs. I meant to write a short entry yesterday then never got around to it. Hey, I had no coffee in the house and no noshes. I was running on fumes. It’s a miracle I can get out of bed. I still don’t have coffee. I’m spoiled by Marie’s on Arthur Ave but it’s a trek to get there. It’s only 10¢ more an ounce that Café Bustelo and so much better. I could have said $1.60/lbs but Café Bustelo comes in 10 oz packages. All supermarket coffee tries to deceive you with a “pound” of coffee that weighs less than a pound.

I haven’t had therapy in two weeks, my next session is on Friday. I left my therapist in suspense, I’m in much better shape now then I was last session. I was making a mental list, of good things that have happened since then, I should write down the list and I’m going to do that right now, minus the things that I can talk about in therapy and not in public. That reminds me, never ask people what they talked about in therapy. That’s between the person and the therapist. I often share with you, that’s my choice. Some people never share, that’s their choice. Assume that what happens in therapy, stays in therapy.

Good things (that I can share with you) That have happened of late with special emphasis on the last two days.

  • My COVID-19 Alert App warned me that I was exposed to someone that tested positive. I got tested and it was negative.
  • I finished recording my holiday show and it was aired
  • I recorded my 2020 Albums show and it was aired
  • I put them both up on Mixcloud.
  • I made my Mixcloud account pro and allowed subscribers
  • I got cards and even presents for the Holidays
  • On New Year’s Eve I saw two streaming shows with friends, Chicks With Dip and Christine Lavin
  • After the Chicks show my friend messaged me to tell me that when the show ended her daughters said, “Gordon Nash is awesome.” Nobody’s opinions matter as much as those of kids and dogs.  I got a shout-out at the show, that’s why they thought of me.
  • On New Year’s morning I found a pop-up concert by Cathie Ryan. She sang a capella in front of her house in Ireland. The skies were grey, and the wind was blowing, and neighbors came by and it was wonderful. She performed a killer rendition of Auld Lang Syne. I won’t do it, but I would love to do a show, or at least a set, consisting of nothing but renditions of that song.
  •  I saw Alice Hasen’s regularly scheduled Fiddler’s Friday where she performed a killer violin rendition of  Auld Lang Syne.
  • Today I made my way over to Montefiore Medical Center for another COVID-19 test, this time because I’m having a colonoscopy on Tuesday.
  • I saw kids with cute masks on the way.
  • I got eggs and the aforementioned peanut butter chocolate wafers on the way home
  • I had phone conversations with a slew of friends and a Zoom with another.
  • I checked my back account yesterday and found that I got my $600 from the government. From the therapy point of view the most important part is checking my account. From my living point of view, it’s the $600. That what landing on Connecticut Ave with a hotel costs.
  • I made plans to play online chess with River tonight.
  • When I went to save this, I remembered to create a new 2021 subfolder in my diary folder.
  • I stopped myself from falling down a rabbit hole this morning. That’s also a biggie for therapy.
  • I heard five great versions of Auld Lang Syne since December 30.
    • Eddi Reader – I listen to that every year
    • Cathie Ryan
    • Alice Hasen
  • I wrote this entry
