I have been working on my procrastination skills all day today but have reached the point of diminishing returns. It’s time to work on other skills, like blogging. There is nothing like waking up at 5:20 in the morning with bathroom issues and then wanted to say up until six to post the WFUV Question of the Day on the QotD group to foster napping. I had so many weird dreams that I won’t bore you with but there was part of one I thought interesting. I had some sort of personal force field around me that I could extend to protect anyone in a car I was in. After getting out of the car it clung tightly to my skin. It was as if my skin were impenetrable diamond hard plastic. The part I wanted to share, as it interested me even in the dream, was someone put her hands on my ribs to say, “OK time to go now.” Even though my flesh didn’t yield at all, I could feel the warmth of her hand, through my shirt and the shield, feel her flesh yielding. When dream logic is odd to you, you are close to waking up. Somehow this was comforting. Maybe it’s because I haven’t felt someone’s touch in almost a year. I drove in the dream. I miss driving too. I haven’t driven since my nephew’s wedding in August 2014.
Yesterday’s adventures were trips to the pharmacist and then Popeye’s. A few weeks ago, I went to Popeye’s and had a bad experience. I wrote to the company and complained, and they gave me a coupon good for $5 on my next order. A Chicken Sandwich with fries costs $5 so I had a free dinner coming to me and took advantage. I took the bold route to the pharmacy, instead of walking on sidewalks I cut straight across the park that Mosholu Parkway is embedded in. That’s my usual route, but it’s not usually covered in snow. I decided to risk it as it cuts the distance in half. The snow was solid and so manageable. It was not just shorter but more enjoyable than walking around the park. There was only one person in front of me on the pickup line and they were almost finished. Picking up the meds was easy. I didn’t even have to sign the consent form. As so often happens the Popeye’s app malfunctioned and did not register my order. This time they handled it the right way, just gave me my food. Last time the order went through. My name was on it, but the guy at the counter wouldn’t give me the order because it didn’t pop up on my phone. It never does that. He had my name but was afraid that someone was knew I just ordered and knew what I just ordered and was stealing my identity for a sandwich.
I tried to bundle four Gord’s Gold together to post on Mixcloud but ran into a snag. I discovered that even though I had what I said about Le Vent du Nord on my computer, I don’t have any of their music. The person that had it when it aired on Folk Music Notebook is having computer issues and couldn’t send them to me. I then wrote the band and asked them to send it to me. I’m just now getting used to that as a DJ I can do that. The problem is all artists and record labels don’t respond, and sometimes it takes a while. If I haven’t heard back by tomorrow I’ll use another artist. I did hear back from another Quebecois band that I just discovered Genticorum. Are any of My Gentle Readers familiar with them? I’ve picked up a lot of good music this week. The trend now is releasing singles.
Once again I’m going to put off the unpleasantness I want to write about. I’m saving it for a quiet day I have nothing else to say. It involves friends that don’t read Wise Madness, but I figure the longer I wait the better the odds are that they never catch wind of it.
