Concert Streaming Fantasy baseball Gord's Gold Health Knicks music

Back to the Future

Sorry I didn’t write yesterday. I can’t believe how long I waited to start today. Everything in my life seems to be on hold but Gord’s Gold. That’s the one thing that I can always work on. Today I got a box of CDs and a digital download. That a lot of listening homework. What I should be doing right now is preparing for my Fantasy Baseball draft. I love doing that. I know exactly how my anxiety is stopping me, I know how to combat anxiety, yet that isn’t enough to get it done. I’ll write this while I watch Heather Pierson and Shawn Nadeau’s weekly Saturday Livestream. It’s one of the few livestreams that I can watch every week. It takes more than great music to keep things fresh streaming. Streaming shows are an art unto themselves.

I threw my back out, only the second time that happened to me. It started when I was getting dressed. I can sort of see the strain in pulling a shirt over my head. It wasn’t that bad at first but then I had a sneezing fit, and that aggravated it. I’ve been reading about it and it said that rest is important but not too much rest. After a day off I decided to take my donut walk yesterday. Things were fine on the way there, but I hurt my back on the way home. I had to find a hard wall to lean against. I walked the rest of the way home slowly. If you throw your back out the most important rules are don’t twist your body, don’t bend from your waist, and no sudden movements. One weird trick I learned is that if I have to lean over, as when flushing the toilet, I put my right leg straight back as I lean forward so the line from my back to my leg remains straight. As much as I hate being in pain and having my movements limited I enjoy developing workarounds. I’ve been alternating between a cold pack and a heating pad. It’s so odd that both heat and cold help.

I recorded next week’s Gord’s Gold last night. It’s becoming so easy that I could do it while watching the Knick game; it was on TNT so I could watch it despite not having cable. I miss sports so much. For the first time in almost a decade the Knicks are good, and unlike a decade ago they have not convinced themselves that they are great. They have the nucleus of a decent team, perhaps enough that a top-quality free agent would sign with them. Tom Thibodeau has done a great job as head coach. The team plays defense! They haven’t done that in 20 years.

I have one positive health development; I fixed my sleep issues. The Donut Walks™ get the credit. I go out every day in the sun. The body needs that to maintain it’s circadian rhythms. I’m staying up to late most nights but even if I get 6 hours of sleep instead of my intended 8 I feel better in the morning. I’m waking up in the middle of the night less often.

Let’s see if I can get some work done on my fantasy baseball team. I’ll write again tomorrow after the draft.
