A poor start to today. First I slept until noon. I think the reason is I forgot to use a nasal strip last night so had trouble breathing. Then as I was getting out of bed I dropped my phone and it fell into another dimension. I spent an hour looking for it. I assumed it was under my bed but didn’t see it. It doesn’t help that my flashlight batteries were dead. When I need a flashlight I usually use my phone. I asked people via my computer to call me so I could follow the ring, but nobody got the message. I felt under the bed over and over. I found buried treasure but not my phone. Finally, I realized it must be in the hardest spot for me to get to, stretched out on the floor, and felt it. By then it was 1:00. My plan for the day was to go to Brooklyn for a porch concert. I had to leave at 2:30. I went through my emails at two and saw that the time of the concert was changed, and it was now too late for me to get there on time. So much for my effort to listen to live music every weekend. I could walk over to An Beal Bocht which has resumed their Irish sessions, but I don’t think I’m ready for indoor music in a pub yet. It’s a close call. The Mets are playing, and deGrom is pitching, that’s something in favor of staying home and listening to the game. I hope Met fans all appreciate how lucky they are to get to watch, or in my case listen, to the best pitcher in baseball since Pedro Martinez. Alan is at today’s game. I hope that means he invites me to join him for a game soon. He has season tickets. I miss baseball.
I was going to go to Aldi, but it looks like it might rain. I’ll see how it looks after I finish writing. As I am only listening, there’s no reason I can’t listen as I walk there. My back muscles are fine now but my arthritis has been acting up since I threw my back out. That argues against the five mile walk for Donuts then Aldi. I’ll have to work something out. Oh no, the trainer is looking a deGrom, he is coming out of the game. He is coming off a strained lat. Maybe it was sympathy pain for me. So much for all my plans, it’s raining and will continue to rain for another hour. If it lets up I’ll try to at least get a donut.
I haven’t talked about my fantasy baseball team, Gord’s Gold, yes the same as my radio show. We are in 5th place in an 11-team league but coming on strong of late. Oddly for one of my teams, we have a dominant offence, second best in the league, and terrible pitching, second worst. We’ve been coming on strong, just like the Mets. The smart money is on us finishing in the money.
I’m out of things to write. I’m going to accept that. See you tomorrow.
