I’ve been trying unsuccessfully to get myself asleep earlier. Last night I stayed up late by choice, I watched the Lakers-Warriors game. I get to watch postseason basketball on TV as it’s on free channels ESPN and TNT. This was postseason but it was not a playoff game, it was a play-in game, a practice that started last year. Why did I watch a late game that didn’t involve the Knicks? Two of the greatest players in history were competing, LeBron James of the Lakers and Steph Curry of the Warriors. LeBron was joined by superstar Anthony Davis and Curry by odd superstar Draymond Green. Green scored only two points but had a dominant game; watching him play defense is worth the price of admission. It was an exciting game I couldn’t turn off. No matter who I start rooting for I usually end up rooting for LeBron. He won the game with a 30-foot three pointer. He is the Thanos of the NBA, he is inevitable.
I forgot what interrupted me, now it’s many hours later. It was a beautiful day, so I lengthened my Donut Walk™ to 4.14 miles. As the weather improves I’ll try walking further. It is so pleasant to be outside. Yesterday I was paid to talk about my Donut Walk™. I did a market research study on great service and used Krispy Kreme as an example. I got paid $100 for a one-hour video chat. There was some irony involved. I spent a lot of time talking about the ways people can project friendliness and interest in you. The interviewer checked off all the ways herself, and I told her that. It’s difficult for me to avoid being meta.
That was not my socializing for the day, I had a long talk with Erika, our first in ages. No matter what the outside conditions Erika and I both feel we never see or talk to each other enough. We need more special events, we are there for each other’s Today I had a nice talk with Marc, we also don’t speak as much as we’d like. This is even more important for my mental health than the Donut Walks™.
Now I remember what I needed to discuss, my great culinary invention, matzoh brei pizza! I’ve had the idea for ages but getting the mozzarella in that box of free food put the idea in the front of my brain. It is so simple. Make pancake style matzoh brei just as you normally would. When you flip it over go into ordinary pizza preparation mode. Lay down a layer of sauce then put on your cheese, meat, then more cheese. I used ham as I do in Matzoh Brei To Make Your Bubbe Cry. That is what gave me the idea, matzoh brei pizza is just Matzoh Brei To Make Your Bubbe Cry with sauce. You can find my recipe for that in the Common Ground Cookbook. The pizza was my best attempt at homemade pizza. Matzoh brei makes a great crust. This is going to become a regular thing but perhaps more for dinner than breakfast. I should buy some pepperoni to use as a topping.
I am behind on Gord’s Gold. Usually by Thursday I at least have the show scripted. I have finished programming it, I know the songs, the order, and where the breaks go, but not what I’m going to say. I’d like to both do that and record the show before I go to sleep. Time for dinner. I’m going to have some of the frozen Italian meatballs that came in the box of food.
