It’s amazing how fast my life came back, in the last eight days I went to three concerts, a baseball game, and dinner with friends. I’m going to have to consider getting a monthly MetroCard. One argument against that is the temptation to take public transit to places I now walk to. I like walking every day. Part of me wants to stay home all day today but I didn’t walk my three miles yesterday. I’m torn. In the week to come I have one concert and two Met games, and I feel the need to find one more concert to go to. I have one option but it’s an expedition to New Jersey and I’m already going on one expedition to the Garden State.
Yesterday’s adventure was the Mets vs the Blue Jays. I didn’t know it was a giveaway game, cooler bags and arrived too late to get one. I miss the days when everyone got the giveaways. I could have used a cooler bag. The game was great, newly acquired Rich Hill’s first start for the Mets. After five innings he looked great, and the Mets were winning 1-0. Things changed in the 6th, Hill’s third time through the order. How did it take baseball so long to discover what a huge difference facing a pitcher for the third time makes? Hill left the game with no runs in, but the bases loaded an no outs. Seth Lugo came in and all the runs scored. Just went things looked bleak for the home team they scored four runs in the bottom of the 6th including a two-run homer by Pete Alonso. The Mets held on to win 5-4, the exact score I predicted.
I hate when the Mets play teams in the AL, which means having to root against players on my fantasy team. The Jays’ starter Stripling is on my team. I got the result I wanted, he pitched well giving up just one run and then the Mets scored against the relievers. I also own the Jays’ second baseman and he went 2-4, not a bad day for me.
I made good connections on the ride home, but the D was slow once I was on it. They are doing construction. When I got home I made a delicious dinner of bratwurst and baked potato. I spent the evening as I’ve spent most of my free time at home this weekend watching the Olympics. I was even watching when I started writing this. Alan who is such a huge sports fan doesn’t watch. I love seeing the sports I don’t normally follow. Did you know there is Olympic halfcourt three on three basketball? I watched the US women a few times. It’s quite enjoyable accept that the announcer reads 3X3 as three ex three. That might be correct, but it annoys me. The triathlon was great, and I always enjoy swimming. Now that the Olympics are broadcast on multiple channels there’s always something fun to watch and hey no longer spend more than half the time on human interest stories and travelogues. There was a period there where the Olympics were almost unwatchable.
I like to finish Gord’s Gold by Sunday but I didn’t. I have it programmed and written but I didn’t have enough quiet to record. I’ll have to do that today. The show is streamed on Thursday. Now to make breakfast, record Gord’s Gold, and decide if I want to take a walk today or luxuriate in a day that I don’t get dressed. Oy! The air conditioner from the apartment above mine is dripping onto mine. That means it’s too loud to record. I might have to retreat into my bedroom which isn’t as comfortable. In any event French toast is calling to me and I have to heed its call.
