4D Acres and a Mule

This week is off to a good start. Sunday night The Mets beat the Padres 8-5, breaking out of their scoring slump. They did this to make me look brilliant; Met manager Buck Showalter finally took my advice and started Guillorme over the totally hapless Escobar and inserted the newest Met, Vogelbach in as DH. Instead of three players with an OBP under .280 starting, there was but one, catcher, Tomas Nido. Not that Guillorme had a big game, just one for four with an rbi, but I’m taking full credit and Guillorme is also much better defensively. I even got to watch the game because it was on ESPN. The announcers are terrible, but I don’t have to pay to watch them as I do for SNY, the Mets regular station. I would have to get a package of over $50 to watch. I’d gladly pay $10 and just be able to watch the Mets.

Monday was even better; I got two deliveries. One was the home PCR test for the study I’m in. The first time they sent it, it was stolen from in front of my door. The other delivery is the biggie, my sister got me a 43” 4D Fire TV! I have been watching on my computer for months since the old TV broke. I was told I shouldn’t say TV set as that makes me sound old. TV is easier to write but it’s an extra syllable compared to set. 4D is pure evil. I don’t think I will ever be satisfied by even HD, let alone standard definition TV again. It has four times the resolution of standard, thus 4D. It’s not four dimensional. I never thought that would affect my enjoyment, but it does. Sure, I can enjoy watching even on my small laptop, but this is so much better. It’s not just the picture but Fire is better than the ancient ROKU I had been using. It keeps tracks of all the shows I watch without having to go into the individual apps. I might even find a use for Alexa given time. So far, not so much.

Today’s good news delivery was my Breathe-Rite strips from Amazon. The last two deliveries were stolen. I was here for this one, I made sure to be. Amazon said I’d get it before 10 PM. I was not going to leave the house or go into the shower until it came. Now I can do both! As the heat wave has finally broken, I can take my long delayed shopping trip to Aldi. There is a IHOP right by Aldi and they owe me a stack of pancakes for my birthday. My celebration will continue, and I’ll get some exercise.

On Saturday I recorded this week’s Gord’s Gold even though it’s not due until today. Since then, I’ve planned out next week show so I will have it ready before I leave for Falcon Ridge on Thursday. I might wait to record it until I get back on Monday. Each and every Gord’s Gold is the best show ever. You really should be listening on Folk Music Notebook and you should subscribe to me on Mixcloud, I could use the money. It’s just like supporting an artist on Patreon and it’s cheap, $3/month. If I get some subscribers, I’ll give bonus content for them. I have so much music that might not be right for Folk Music Notebook that I love. I’ll also feel freer to talk as I won’t be trying to squeeze everything into an hour. My voice will be closer to what you hear here.

Today is the day for my rapid test for my study. I have started it. If it turns out positive, it will ruin all my good fortune and I’ll have to miss Falcon Ridge. Am I nervous? No, I have anxiety about everything else in the world but not that. I’ve had almost no exposure to anyone since my last test on Saturday. I always wear an N95 mask. I feel fine. I’d be shocked if it were positive. It’s not something truly scary like depositing a check. Yesterday I got my check for working the primary. Did I deposit it immediately using my phone app? Of course not. I waited until today. I didn’t set the TV set up as soon as I got it. First, I got the nerve up to open the box. And take the set out. Only after a break did I attach the legs. Then after another break I plugged it in and started the setup. I forgot I no longer have ethernet in this room, so I had to connect via Wi-Fi which meant finding my Wi-Fi password. Then I started signing into various services. I still don’t have all of them. I’ll sign in the rest as I use them.

Less than a minute until I see the results. I can see you just shiver with anticip……..ation. The result is Negative! Huzzah! Release the pigeons. I told you not to worry. Most people I know have had COVID-19; why haven’t I? I have a theory. It’s like Mjolnir, Thor’s Hammer, only the worthy don’t get COVID-19. Don’t feel bad, Ironman, Bruce Banner, and Black Widow weren’t worthy either. You can still be a superhero; you just won’t wield the power of Thor. Who has Natalie Portman’s number? She’ll go for me now that I’m worthy. I’ll be a much better boyfriend than Thor, I will not runoff into space.

Tonight, I will get to watch the Mets beat MLB’s version of Thanos, the Yankees. They’ll go for the head. The game is on TBS, and I will watch in 4D. It will be like being at the game. I better shower and go shopping. You should listen to last week’s Gord’s Gold and make sure to subscribe.
