Mea Culpa, I’ve gotten terrible about updating. The last two days I found myself in the land of the lotus eaters for hours in the morning, the hypnopompia. This is why I have never used drugs; I have an addictive personality. It is so pleasant that I can’t tear myself away. I’m on a run of good fortune, I went to Falcon Ridge, got a job, got a TV set, I’m having a rapprochement with a friend, and I’m sure I’m missing things. The cosmic balance cannot let that go unanswered, so it dealt me a blow, I finished watching Sandman. Why could it not go on forever? It’s one of the best TV shows every. The writing is as good as it gets, the atmosphere perfectly suits the story, the casting of the leads is wonderful, and there are favorites appearing in smaller roles. How can I not love a show with Jenna Coleman, John Cameron Mitchell, Stephen Fry, and the voices of Patton Oswald and Mark Hamill? No wonder the King of Dreams has been visiting me in the mornings. I’ve become emersed in the Dreaming. Sandman is on Netflix, watch it as soon as you finish this.
I took New York Transit so many times on Monday through Friday that I could ride it for free over the weekend. Sadly, I had nothing planned but I wanted to go to Trader Joe’s yesterday. It takes just a bit over 20 minutes by Sunday, the same as it takes me to get to Aldi or Stop & Shop by bus. There are things I needed so I headed to the D train to find that it wasn’t running this weekend. It’s just not fair. I took the bus to Stop & Shop instead. I usually walk there but if the bus was free and I didn’t have that much time I took it. My back has been bothering me so perhaps I should walk a little less for a while. Walking some will help. Like so many things what matters is doing it in moderation.
Call me Matt Murdoch. Marvel fans will know that’s the real name of Daredevil. I did something daring, I ate corn on the cobb. After a few years of being on Entyvio my Crohn’s disease has been so quiet that I decided to take the chance. I steamed two ears to have with my dinner last night. I’m fine this morning! No obstructions! It’s been so long since I’ve made it, I had to look up the cooking time. One site said 4 minutes, another said 15. I went with 4, I know how I like it. Who wants mushy corn? I was in heaven. It probably wasn’t the best corn I’ve ever eaten but I enjoyed it as much as if it were. Corn is back in my diet! Oh no, that’s another good thing. What will the universe do to compensate? Please don’t take it out on my beloved Mets. They won 1-0 yesterday. I love this team. The Mets might have the best two starting pitchers in baseball, as well as the best closer and shortstop. Forget might, I’m going with probably.
I couldn’t watch the game yesterday because it was on broadcast TV. I can stream the cable games. So, what did I do? I bought an antenna. A middle class person with a job can do that. It was not expensive. It’s coming today. For the rest of the season the only games I’ll miss will be the ones on Apple TV. Come basketball season I will be able to watch the Knicks too. I do not love the Knicks as I love the Mets, they are too frustrating. The owner, like the former Mets owner, is clueless.
I’m happy now and will enjoy it while I can. I could go into politics, I might tomorrow, but for now the saddest I’ll get is to voice my one complaint about Sandman. They never played this song.
