How exciting, the reset of the default font really works. I use Georgie 14, the closest thing available to the Book Antiqua I use on Word. I change my desktop image several times a week but when it comes to my tools I’m a stuck-in-the-mud. It took a long time for me to find what I like, and I’m sticking with it.
I did not get a good night’s sleep. I woke up once with a hot flash, at least that’s how I feel. When that happens I have to remove all my covers. I keep it cool in my room, it’s not actually hot. As soon as it passes I have to crawl back under the covers. That was not the worst of it. I woke up twice with anxiety attacks. I don’t think they were triggered by dreams, but they might have been. I had to meditate to get them under control. This has not happened in a long time. I have to remind myself to tell my therapist. I just made a note on my phone. I try to be a good patient.
There was a mystery at school today that I would like you to try and solve. There is no right answer, the mystery was not solved, Just think of possibilities.
A teacher misplaced a stack of printouts yesterday, she spent an hour looking for it to no avail. Today she came into class and the papers weren’t there; after several hours she discovered the missing papers on her desk. She said that nobody approached her desk, that they just appeared out of nowhere. What do you think happened?
I have two theories.
- A student came up with the papers and she didn’t notice. She said that nobody approached the desk, but all that means is that she didn’t notice it. Perhaps she stuck her head into the hallway. Perhaps she was someplace in the room and away from her desk and somebody who had found them, left them there.
- The theory I think is more probable is that she did not take them out of the printer. The printers were having issues yesterday. The printer network is not exactly foolproof and it’s easy to send something to the printer other than the one you expect. I’ve done that. They are labeled by letter not location. They might not have even been printed until school was over. In the morning somebody found them in the printer and put them on her desk. But what of her saying that they weren’t there when she arrived? Who hasn’t noticed something that was there for a long time and then all of a sudden it caught their attention?
Either way the cause was because her memory of what occurred did not match the reality. That’s not calling her stupid or criticizing her in any way. We all do things like that. I would call myself an idiot, but not anyone else. I think you’ll agree that my hypotheses of what happened is more likely than something supernatural. The lesson is, don’t be so sure of things even if you think you directly observed them. “Observed” is doing a lot of work there. Have you ever seen this video?
That got me the first time I watched it. Now that I know it seems impossible. I saw the trick, I won’t give it away immediately. We are all unreliable witnesses. We can’t help that but we can acknowledge it and keep it in mind.
Today’s plan was to go to Aldi but it was supposed to rain. The new plan is to just stop at the local supermarket and overpay for milk and ham. I have to stop at Trader Joe’s one day this week to get eggs. They charge much less than other stores.
I’ve now written three of the last four days. I will try and keep it up. Maybe I’ll even comment on politics or religion soon. It’s time for me to get back in the blogging groove.
