Weird

I’m sorry I didn’t blog yesterday. I’m having issues with internal clock, instead of sleeping through the night, I try and catch up during the day. That does not work. Today I went to a 12 Noon Met game which meant leaving here at 10:00. Sadly, I got there too late to get the giveaway t-shirt because the subway has so many issues. I should call governor Hochel every day to complain about her blocking congestion pricing which was slated to pay for the much needed improvements.

What I did accomplish yesterday was writing and recording Gord’s Gold something of a perfectionist when it comes to Gord’s Gold. After recording it I had to go back and change one song which mean rerecording one introduction, but I got it done. I ran into a problem writing this, all my macros disappeared. That almost made me stop writing. It’s taking an effort of will, to continue. I’m feeling enervated. I keep falling asleep. I tried watching TV and couldn’t focus, so now I’m back to writing. I recovered my macros by reverting to my backup normal template. The problem is that this one is out of date, and I lost the tool to record new macros. I just replaced that and created a macro to insert a link to Gord’s Gold. Yay it works. Wow it’s 10:45 already, I wasted this entire day. Let’s hope tomorrow can be more productive. Of course, that’s what I said yesterday when I started writing an entry and never got past the first few lines.

Tim Walz has made one of my favorite words fashionable, weird. He described Trump and Vance as weird dudes. Politicians have been throwing invectives at Trump for years and none of them had landed but weird seems to have knocked Trump back on his heels. Why? Because unlike me and so many people I love Trump views being weird as only a bad thing. This can best be explained using Muppets. Ever since the Muppet show premiered the Muppet I most relate to is Gonzo. Weirdness is at the center of his existence. He’s a professional weirdo with an aquiline nose. Hey that’s me. I’ve always loved the weird artists, the ones that don’t conform to societal norms. They are a diverse group Bowie, They Might Be Giants, The Marx Brothers, Andy Warhol, Chuck Jones, and Charming Disaster. In the film Alphaville the hero Lemmy Caution tells the masses in the thrall of the state, “Listen you normals!” If you are reading this, you know exactly how he felt. There are times you need to follow your inner needs, not the norms of society. That was at the core of the hippie movement. It motivates all the charming weirdos in fiction, Don Quixote, Elwood P. Dowd (Harvey), Longfellow Deeds, …. Frank Capra’s genius was seeing that the everyman is “pixelated.” Like Dar we know that “We are the others!”

Trump and Vance sees themselves not as Gonzo, or Kermit, or Piggy, comfortable in their own skin, and comfortable with being different. To them it’s bad to be different. Their opponents are the weird ones, not them. They can’t understand that there are as many ways of being weird as there are people, or people and Muppets.

I think that’s all I can churn out today. I feel better now that I’ve written something.
