All-Star Radar

I had my second glass of iced coffee, this one with ice cream instead of ice, so I’m ready to tackle my second blog of the day. It was the second Tuesday of the month and that means I went to John Platt’s On Your Radar. It was the second Tuesday of July and that […]

This is a tale of a long walk, a doughnut, a chance meeting, and John Platt’s On Your Radar featuring Matt Marshak, Sarah Eide (rhymes with hay duh), and Martin Swinger. Sorry I’m posting so late; the coda will explain why. Yesterday was a beautiful day and I decided to take advantage of it. Instead […]

No Fuss and Feathers or Hell

I went to see No Fuss and Feathers at Spiral Sounds Concerts last night so I have something to write about. Whew. Vamping was getting tough. Two entries ago I told you how I lost one of my Mets caps less than three weeks into the season. What I forgot to tell you is that […]

Radar Love and Radio

Dateline WFUV: I’m once again writing from the phone room at the radio station. I’m supervising the phone volunteers during the member drive. I am spending virtually no time at home out of bed. Yesterday I went straight from the station to Rockwood Music Hall for the April Edition of John Platt’s On Your Radar.  John’s […]

I’ve Run Out of Radar Puns

Yesterday was the second Tuesday of the month, My Gentle Readers should know where I was. That’s right, John Platt’s On Your Radar. John’s guests were Plywood Cowboy, Sophie Buskin, and Genevieve. OYR is always a home game. I decided last night that I’m not going to give my usual list of friends in the audience, I’m going to just give you a count. You know you should add at least one to the total as I always forget people. I just counted 15. The room holds only 60 and that count doesn’t include John and his wife Sheila. And then there were the performers.

Echoing Microwaves

Yesterday was the second Tuesday of the month and that means John Platt’s On Your Radar. I’m a friend and a fan of two of the three acts, Emerald Rae and Low Lily; the third was All Types of Kinds. I meant to get there a half an hour before doors to give me schmoozing […]

This is new and exciting. I am at WFUV and writing directly on WordPress from the computer I use to take pledges. That means i don’t have my macros to insert links and my customized spell-check. I hope this comes out in a reasonable approximation of English. I didn’t update yesterday because i woke up […]

Serenity Now

I didn’t see Jean Rohe last night. I had a good reason, I’ve been going out every day, I saw her twice in the last two weeks, and the WFUV Member Drive starts tomorrow and I need all the rest I can get. I still feel bad I missed the show. I’m being stupid enough […]

Episode 6: Return of the John Platt

I didn’t finish writing about NERFA but it’s time to move on to John Platt’s On Your Radar. I usually begin by saying, “It’s the second Tuesday of the month, you know what that means.” But it hasn’t meant John Platt’s On Your Radar since July. Like psychiatrists and teachers, OYR takes August off. In […]

On My Radar

Last night was a first, I co-hosted John Platt’s On Your Radar. I feel terrible that it was because John had a stroke but I did enjoy the challenge. I’d love to host another show. Richard Cuccaro and I had a voice conference with John to prepare us. We divided the hosting duties between us. […]
