Last night I had a great time seeing Christine Lavin and friends at Urban Stages. Her friends were Julie Gold, Katherine Rondeau. and Karen Jacobsen. It could have been called “Gordon’s Friends, without Gordon.” That’s not quite accurate as I don’t know Karen even though I’ve driven with her many times. Karen is an Aussie […]

The WFUV member drive is over and once again I’m writing from home. This a lot easier. I miss the macros I have on Word. I just used one to create the link to WFUV. It was a strange day at the station. Until 4PM none of the volunteers showed up. It was just me […]
I had a long day that involved time in four counties and use of four transit systems; I volunteered at WFUV in the Bronx, took MetroNorth and a Beeline Bus to therapy in Westchester, took a bus and MetroNorth to Grand Central Terminal, the subway to the World Trade Center, and the PATH to Jersey […]
Last night I went to the 50th anniversary celebration for Bob Sherman’s Woody’s Children. I haven’t been listening for 50 years but perhaps 40. I’m a newcomer. This was something I had to go to. But first, a word about my mental and physical health. Friday is my day for therapy. It was my first […]
Welcome to a clear liquid diet edition of Wise Madness. I’m having a colonoscopy tomorrow so that’s all I’m allowed to have today. Back in the old days I could eat breakfast the day before. Normally I eat nothing before blogging but as this takes no cooking and I can’t eat anything after 5PM I […]
Festivus is officially here, I went to my first holiday show, Robinson & Rohe’s Longest Winter. This is a tradition, I see it at least once every year. This time it was at the Common Ground Coffeehouse. How much is this a home game? When sound check was over Jean said, “Are you doing merch. […]
Dateline Van Merc Hill: I hear other people awake. I could join them but it’s parent/child time so I think I’ll write till breakfast starts cooking. There are still other guests sleeping. I’m used to be the last to wake up. Yesterday was Second Thanksgiving. I think I like that even more than first Thanksgiving. […]
I spent another day at home. The worst part is that I didn’t get my phone fixed. I’ve been editing and posting pictures fromNERFA and impressed at how well the pictures came out before I damaged the camera lens. My phone camera does something my real camera doesn’t do, give me continuous control of white […]
See Bri’s Art
Yesterday’s highlight was seeing a photography show featuring, among others, BriBri Dougherty. Normally I use just their first name but this is a professional reference so I use both. My Gentle Readers know Bri as my great friend and Budgiedome partner in musician wrangling, Paul calls her the Gordon wrangler. There are not many people that I’d travel to Newark from therapy in Harrison for. Bri is well worth three hours.
I didn’t go out yesterday so today is the first write whatever I want post since before NERFA. The problem is I don’t know what to write. I have many competing ideas, I can go personal, I can go religious, I can go political/philosophical. I can write about snow. I think I’m going for potpourri. […]
