Music Discovery Starts Here

I left you with my arrival at the New Bedford Festival. I have a schedule here, so I will at least remember the music. What I’m afraid I’m going to forget is some of my meetings with friends. That’s is half the fun of festivals.

The Game of Stages

I’m home from the New Bedford Folk Festival and filled with tales to tell. It’s been a while, but this was worth waiting for. It would be nice if I remembered what happened; at least I have my marked schedule, so I can fake the music. The story you are about to read is true, the memories have been changed to protect the idiot. That’s me.

Gotta Get a Message to You (then don’t use FedEx)

Yesterday’s adventures revolved around deliveries, one by UPS and one by FedEx. I bought a new phone; it came without a SIM card. I had to order one from Boost Mobile. Yesterday it came via UPS. It was a close thing, the delivery guy buzzed up, but I didn’t know where the intercom was to let him in. First, I had to go to the front of the apartment and wait for him to buzz again. Then I had to track it down by ear. It wasn’t easy as it was behind something. I got it just before he was going to leave. You know how large a SIM card is; it came in a box the large enough fit a honeydew. It was mainly giant bubble wrap.

Appropriating Ideas

Huzzah, I’m starting to write in the morning, late morning, but just before 11 AM. I’ll consider that a victory. If I can think of something to write about it will be another. Here’s a real victory, I made my plans with Mike to go to the New Bedford Folk Festival. We have missed the […]

The Declaration in the Time of Trump

I’m not a nationalist but I am a patriot. The one ritual I practice every year is reading the Declaration of Independence. This centuries-old document finds new ways to be relevant; that is the genius of Jefferson. The bulk of it is a list of specific abuses of the crown but even they can find modern parallels. I always present the Declaration here by either posting the text or a link to the text. This year I’m posting the actual text and bolding the parts that speak to me. It won’t be difficult to imagine who currently plays the role of George III.

I Must ReFuse.

Afternoon blogging has become the norm. I don’t like this norm; we’ll see if I can change it tomorrow. I am making progress nesting, but I’m still not fully adjusted to life here. Yesterday I made my first foray to Stop & Shop since the move. I was going to go to the one by […]

Rockin’ the Bronx

I have not left the house since I last wrote but I have enough to write about without having to delve into politics; I’m going to write about the apartment and the neighborhood.

Weekend Update

Since I last blogged I’ve been to two concerts, therapy, and had adventures in phones and air conditioning. My life isn’t all that exciting but calling things adventures helps.

Kataklysm

I did make it out of the house, just in time, to see Kat Quinn at the Sidewalk café. I made it there in just an hour, that was exciting. Dan saved me a seat. This was Kat’s farewell show, she’s moving to LA. My usual joke is to say that it’s because she hates me, but as you’ll discover, that just won’t work today.

Getting Adjusted

Weird day. I couldn’t get myself to write earlier. I got anxious just thinking of getting off my chair and making breakfast. After I showered I went to check out the local Foodtown to see if it can be my prime supermarket. That would be great as it’s just a nine-minute walk away. A decent […]
